Perhaps that extremely rare occasion when the photo is brighter and more beautiful than what the eye sees. It's too cloudy and it's starting to snow. Can you see the flying saucer on the horizon? And that path left by some brave motorist? Yes, it's not the first day of sub-zero temperatures outside, but... I wouldn't risk driving around the lake like that.
I think it's a great place to watch the northern lights. It's just a matter of catching it, as they say. Today was predicted to be the day, but alas, in fact only # clouds. Now the forecasts are talking about the beginning of the week, giving only a low possibility score. I suppose it is worth looking at the forecast just before departure, because in Murmansk forecasts are a formal matter.
