It used to be better

01.10.2024

Today, after the release of the TV series "The Word of a Patsan", the trend of the 90's has not subsided. It is certainly an incredible time that changed many and many things. Something unique. Something that has settled in our minds and memories, causing indelible experiences.

Objectively, however, the "before" did not have the amenities and comforts we enjoy today. What is available today to anyone in a basic form: from elevator to carsharing. Despite this we remember with a special warmth those years when chewing gum went through several stations of use. ))) Today it brings a smile.

Why is that? Earlier I spoke about the beauty of being content with little, of giving up everything as much as possible. Apparently, in those distant 90s, this "refusal" was forced. Lack of choice in desires - we always wanted. Lack of assortment - I want what he/she has. Versus today: he/she already has it. Maybe it was these emotions of possession that were unbelievably strong, leaving such warm memories? Or maybe it's not about scarcity and desire at all? Maybe it's simpler than that - we were young.

Speaking of "The Patsan's Word." I don't watch mainstream movies, but I still decided to watch this series. And I have to say, it left an impression on me. And such impressions that I rated it a 9. It's not too long at all and has decent acting by young actors.

Come on. It's all about "before" and "better". Perhaps the disadvantage of today's comforts and benefits is the cost we have to pay for them. At the same time, I suppose, by choosing these very goods that have so tightly entered our lives, we are depriving ourselves of something else. Replacing or even neutralizing (nullifying) the effect of this good.... And devaluation occurs. To take a simple example: having a cell phone, you can say what you want to an acquaintance in an instant. There is no need to meet, see or be with each other. In the past, you had to make an appointment. How? How if the buddy lives in another neighborhood and you don't have a home phone. Internet? What??? Time! We used to talk at school, at work for a while, meeting at an agreed place.

The price for our comfort of fast communication has been the lack of friendly communication. The replacement and sometimes substitution of values and concepts leads to the fact that we are living, not living life. Will today's youth look back on their years as we did! We had so much in common and recognizable that when you hear "Mario" or "Love of" you get a smile on your face. Was it really better?
