Business basics in school

31.01.2020

The promised post "Just Business" has been published long ago, but the topic keeps me busy. It seems to me that it is high time to introduce a subject like "business basics" or something like that into the compulsory school program. Knowledge and understanding of what a business lives by and what basic rules it follows is much more important and definitely more useful in practice and in the realities of life than, say, the definition of planes, plains and depressions.

Line staff are sometimes amazed and laughing with their conclusions, and management doesn't understand the obvious, prioritizing the wrong things. Retail and marketing in general is in turmoil at the moment, everything is very unstable and working at breakneck speed. In my opinion even small or private businesses look more confident than chain retail. The sales sector is suffering something unprecedented, because this role is being given to the Net more and more every year. Manufacturing and services are the areas that can bring "revenue+", although the latter have less and less time.

Well...it's a very interesting time we live in. What do we teach our children? What will be useful to them in 10 or 20 years? Who to become and from whom to take an example? The media sphere is a dangerous parasite, devouring minds and talents... Will specialists survive or will they turn into sales "managers" or some other tools?

П. С. It's so painful to hear "manager" applied to any occupation. Ugh!
