Is it worth it to get to the point of wondering and digging through these “would haves”? This, most likely, comes with experience, but... the obvious becomes obvious very soon. Alas, more and more often it is the sad and negative outcomes that are the easiest to discern. After all, if there is even a laundry list of “would haves”, the bottom line is... not! I am strongly opposed to the definition of “bad.” Any outcome is positive, if you are able to understand the reasons and draw conclusions.

The sad thing is that having “would be” only one of the parties makes the outcome more gloomy and sad, because the other gives himself to the first with his whole body, soul and mind. It is indeed possible to drown in a person. It is possible to drown, never to resurface, to live a happy life.

I'd take you in my arms,
I'd pick you up and carry you away,
laughing quietly at your “can'ts.”,
breathing in the scent of your hair.

And without being satiated by the thrill of bodies,
pounding in my chest, breaking the silence,
I'd keep waking up and watching,
crying tears of joy as you sleep.

I'd join you like a stream,
I'd stare into you like a river.
I wouldn't have gotten used to it in two hundred years
to the bottomless thought that you're mine.

If there weren't different “would.”,
that we smash our foreheads against.

But everything is always solvable if, again, you are able to understand the root cause and see the objectively correct steps that will prevent you from making mistakes again. Can't do it on your own? You have a person who understands, appreciates, loves and values you as a human being - turn to him!
