Every dish has its own flavor, character and filling... just like life. If you can experiment with the former to get the perfect result, why not try the same with life? Even the most seemingly inappropriate component added to a dish can measure its flavor, even if not completely, but create something interesting, a special perception... not like everyone else's.
Why not try it? Is it a matter of habit, fear, fear of judgment, or something else? Hmm... I don't know. Maybe the problem is that you have to take full responsibility for your decision, eating what you chose and made with your own hands.
